Springfield Ambulance Corps is looking for dedicated volunteers!
Many of our members go on to pursue advance degrees in healthcare professions including Physicians Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP and DNP), Nursing (BSN and RN), Medical School (MD and DO), and Paramedicine (EMT-P or Paramedic).
Hands-on Patient Contact/Direct Patient Care
Many of the above programs require direct patient care (or hands-on patient care). Students new to the healthcare field may have difficulty finding opportunities that meet these programs’ stringent requirements. Responding to 911 medical emergencies with an accredited emergency medical service meets all patient contact requirements for almost any health profession or health career program.
Enhance Your Resume
Admissions officers look for serious healthcare experiences in their applicant pool. 911 ambulance service can greatly enhance your resume, and improve your chances of acceptance to programs in healthcare professions. In addition, holding a volunteer position shows a commitment to the community which many schools view as an asset in an applicant.
Is Medicine Right For You?
Pursuing an advance degree in medicine is a substantial commitment, both in time and money. For students unsure of their next academic pursuit, volunteering with Springfield Ambulance Corps is an excellent way to experience emergency medicine and patient care, helping you to determine if medicine is the right field for you.
EMT Program Reimbursement
Not an EMT? No problem! If you give us a commitment of at least one year, we will reimburse you for EMT school.
